We all know the RTS heavyweights - StarCraft, Command & Conquer, Age of Empires, the usual suspects. But what about the games that never got the recognition they deserved?

Was Earth 2150 ahead of its time with its day-night cycle and deep customization? Did Rise of Nations blend RTS and 4X so well that people didn’t know what to do with it? Maybe Warzone 2100 had mechanics that RTS fans slept on.

What’s the RTS that got overshadowed, ignored, or just never found its audience - but absolutely deserved more love?

This would make a great Podcast episode, so drop your picks below!

One RTS game I feel was underrated was Rise of Nations. That game mix history and strategy in a way plenty of people didn’t appreciate. Everybody was busy shouting StarCraft then. And that game was pretty interesting.

I actually agree that Rise of Nations deserves more recognition. What made it unique was how it blended historical progression with macro strategy. At that time though, StarCraft dominated the competitive spotlight. So many players simply overlooked Rise of Nations.
